Classrooms need
to be organized
and materials
need to be
accessible to
foster student
independence.
A classroom library
categorized by theme,
topic, author, or level
promotes independence
and ease of use. The
systematic organization of
a classroom library makes
choosing "just right books"
and enjoyable experience
for children, rather than an
overwhelming one.
This teacher has done a great job displaying different kinds
of real-life writing.  This gives kids visual examples of some
of the endless possibilities for writing workshop time.
So true...
This visual checklist, created by Ruth Ayres, is a procedure that
promotes collaboration and peer work in kindergarten. Wow!!!
Exercise the writing muscle every day, even if
it is only a letter, notes, a title list, a character
sketch, a journal entry. Writers are like
dancers, like athletes. Without that exercise,
the muscles seize up.
